This is one of a series of small acrylic paintings Milan has been making this winter. Colour for winter is a selection of sixteen of them.
Milan bought a set of Faber-Castell Pitt graphite matt pencils in June, and has been expanding their potential in this series of drawings over the past three months.
In August we stayed on The Holy Island of Lindisfarne with Suzanna and family for a week: a restful, inspiring and happy time.

These and other drawings are included in the selection
Summer drawings: Lindisfarne and more .

50 x 65 cm Acrylic on paper
In these recent paintings, Milan has been using acrylic so that he doesn’t have to wait long for the paint to dry between layers.

Acrylic on canvas 50 x 50 cm
From September 2020 to March 2021 Milan followed CoVid restrictions and stayed at home, walking and drawing locally in places within seven miles of home. In the studio he painted small works in acrylic on canvas or board, derived mainly from these walks. I’ve put a selection in the Gallery: ‘Keeping local’: paintings 2020 – 2021 . There’ll be some more on the new GavaganArt website which is coming online soon: I’ll blog again when it is launched.
I’ve added three more walking-drawings (this and two others) in which Milan is using ink and oil pastel,
to the gallery Around Lancaster, Winter 2020 – 2021.
(Changed the name of the gallery a bit too.)
Restrictions have kept us close to home these last two months, so we have been out to familiar local places, Milan finding new compositions to capture the experience, and developing them into pictures at home.
